Resident Educator Requirements


1. Attend Resident Educator Seminars as scheduled.

2. Meet with your mentor on an on going basis, at least one hour per week.

3. Conduct at least one observation of your mentor by November 1st, and others during the year, as desired. Ideally observe a lesson you both teach. Following the observation process the observation with your mentor.

4. With your mentor, conduct two focused observations of other teachers, either in or outside of UA.
-1st observation prior to winter break
-2nd observation prior to March 30th.
Inform the RE coordinator of the date, time, place and the name of the teacher to be observed.

After an observation,you and your mentor should process the observation together.

Write a reflection on the observation and submit to RE coordinator to use as your required reflection for that week.


5. Participate in two full Pathwise observations with your mentor and in follow up conferences. After each Pathwise observation, you and your mentor should complete a Observation Verification Form, from your notebook, and send it to the RE coordinator

6. Patricipate in the ODE Goal Setting Process with your mentor twice during the year.

6. Participate in informal observations by your mentor and feedback sessions, as necessary.

YOU AND YOUR MENTOR ARE GRANTED 3 PROFESSIONAL DAYS TO USE FOR OBSERVATIONS, CONFERENCING, AND PLANNING.

7. Be observed by RE coordinator and participate in post observation conferences up to three times throughout the year. Have lesson plan available for RE Coordinator and complete the reflective questions within 24 hours of the observation and return to RE Coordinator.

8. Complete weekly reflections as assigned and submit to RE Coordinator as directed

9. Share questions, concerns, successes and failures with your mentor and/or RE coordinator.

10. Consider attending a local, state or national conference in your area (can use your 3 professional days for this)
